Police reported that a tragic incident involving a van and a five-year-old girl resulted in her death after she was rushed to the hospital. The collision took place in the Springfarm Heights area of Newry, Northern Ireland, with a black Ford Tourneo van. The young girl succumbed to her injuries at the hospital, and the van’s 40-year-old female driver was apprehended at the scene.
Detective Inspector Stewart of the Police Service’s Collision Investigation Unit stated that the driver remains in custody while investigations into the collision are ongoing. The road where the incident occurred, Carnagat Road, remains closed at its intersections with Springfarm Heights and Stony Hill.
