“Trump’s Former CT Mansion Set for Demolition”

The former Connecticut residence of ex-President Donald Trump and his first spouse, Ivana Trump, is scheduled for demolition to make way for a new luxurious mansion. The Georgian-style estate, spanning 19,786 square feet, situated on a Greenwich waterfront peninsula, was purchased by the couple in 1982 after their daughter Ivanka was born.

Initially valued at $4 million, the property became a point of contention during the couple’s divorce in 1992, which followed Trump’s affair with Marla Maples. Ivana retained ownership post-divorce and eventually sold the estate in 1998. Originally built in 1939 on 5.8 waterfront acres, the mansion boasted nine bedrooms and approximately 20,000 square feet.

After several enhancements, Ivana sold the mansion for $15 million, and in 2024, it changed hands again for $31.5 million. The new owners plan extensive renovations, including an outdoor tennis court, swimming pool, additional outbuildings, indoor tennis court, and a new 17,000-square-foot main house.

The current owners, registered under 21 Vista Drive LLC, seek to merge three lots into one, demolish existing structures, and redevelop the property. The project requires a special permit from the town planning department due to its scale exceeding 150,000 cubic feet. Renowned architect firm Robert A.M. Stern Architects, known for prestigious projects like Billionaire’s Row in Manhattan, is tasked with the design.

The approval timeline for the project remains uncertain. Ivana Trump, who passed away in 2022, had detailed the property in her memoir, “Raising Trump,” recounting how they chose the estate by helicopter. Her accidental death in 2022 at the age of 73 was attributed to injuries from a fall at her New York City home, with no foul play suspected.
