“Iran Threatens to Close Strait of Hormuz Amid Rising Tensions”

Iran has declared the closure of the Strait of Hormuz once again. The joint military command of the country pointed to Israeli attacks in Lebanon and accused the US of acting in bad faith and breaching its commitments by not ending the conflict. A statement broadcasted on state TV on Saturday also cautioned that if the aggression persists, further actions are planned.

Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon on Saturday resulted in the deaths of at least 16 individuals, including two children. Following the strikes in the southern town of Nabatieh and nearby villages, seven people were reported trapped under debris, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency.

A significant clash between Israel and Hezbollah on Friday led to the deaths of at least 47 people in Lebanon and four Israeli soldiers. An Israeli military official mentioned that Hezbollah launched over 50 projectiles at Israeli forces in southern Lebanon overnight. In response, the army disclosed that it targeted numerous Hezbollah sites and fighters in southern Lebanon, which included rocket-launching sites and Hezbollah command posts.

Hezbollah affirmed on Saturday that despite its commitment to the ceasefire, Israel had breached it multiple times on Friday night. The group further stated its intention to repel any assaults by Israeli troops.
