“Nazi Flag, Suspicious Container in Vehicle Near San Diego Mosque”

One individual has been apprehended following the discovery of a Nazi flag and a suspicious container inside a vehicle in the United States. Authorities are currently investigating the container, which was located near the Islamic Center of San Diego in Clairemont on Thursday, June 18. A bomb squad promptly responded to the scene.

San Diego police officers, who were already present at the Islamic Center, observed the vehicle around 11:40 am. Subsequently, they halted the vehicle and took the driver into custody, where they discovered the Nazi flag and the suspicious container.

The Metro Arson Strike Team was summoned to assess the suspicious item at the scene by the officers. The San Diego Police Department mentioned that the Joint Terrorism Task Force has been informed and is collaborating with the SDPD on the case.

Authorities have confirmed that there is no immediate threat to the center, and the inquiry is ongoing. Residents in the vicinity were advised to remain indoors, while nearby establishments were evacuated.

In an announcement on X, the San Diego Police Department stated, “The San Diego Police Department is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the suspicious device found at the intersection of Derrick Drive and Genesee Avenue. No explosive materials were discovered, and there are no current threats to the Islamic Center of San Diego or the surrounding area.”

The location near the incident remains closed as detectives continue to gather evidence, with the expectation of ongoing impact for several hours. People are encouraged to avoid the area if possible and use alternative routes. Cooperation and patience from the public during the investigation are appreciated.
