“Starmer’s Family Arsonists Convicted: Russian Link Exposed”

Keir Starmer expressed satisfaction that justice had been served for his family following the conviction of two individuals involved in arson attacks on their properties. The culprits, Roman Lavrynovych from Ukraine and Stanislav Carpiuc from Romania, were found guilty of conspiring to damage property, acting under the direction of a mysterious Russian-speaking figure known as El Money.

The incidents included the torching of a Toyota Rav4 previously owned by Mr. Starmer in Kentish Town, London, and the setting ablaze of two houses, one of which is still owned by the PM’s sister-in-law. Reflecting on the violent targeting of his family by the Russian state, Starmer emphasized the importance of the broader international context, particularly highlighting unity within the G7 regarding Ukraine’s progress, the impact of sanctions on Russia, and the need for continued pressure on the Kremlin.

In response to the attacks, Starmer announced 70 new sanctions against Russia, specifically targeting aspects of the Russian military supply chain and illicit financial networks to disrupt their operations. The orchestrator behind the attacks, El Money, incentivized Lavrynovych with cryptocurrency to film the blazes, which posed a serious threat to life and instilled fear in the affected households.

Lavrynovych was convicted of damaging properties through reckless arson, while a third defendant, Petro Pochynok, was cleared of involvement in the conspiracy. The defendants were remanded into custody pending sentencing. Counter Terrorism Policing London clarified that there was no indication of El Money posing a state threat, but rather the attacks aimed at causing disruption and instilling fear in the community and the Prime Minister.

A Government spokesperson condemned the attacks as abhorrent and commended law enforcement and the Crown Prosecution Service for bringing the perpetrators to justice.
