“Gentle Giant’s Legacy Lives On Through Community Support”

Tributes are pouring in for a beloved individual known as a “gentle giant” who tragically passed away suddenly at a primary school. Wayne Ellis, aged 48, collapsed on the school field at Waterwells Primary Academy in Quedgeley around 4 pm on June 4. He had been overseeing a tag rugby match at the school just before the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity was summoned to respond to a medical emergency.

Despite efforts to save him, Wayne could not be revived and passed away at the scene. In memory of him, a fundraising page was created, gathering over £8,000 within a span of five days.

A close friend of Wayne and his partner Jen, Felicity Tucker, who initiated a GoFundMe campaign, honored Wayne as a “silent hero” known for his immense generosity. Describing Wayne as a cherished member of the Waterwells community, Felicity highlighted his dedication to coaching the tag rugby team for many years and his active role in school events and activities.

Beyond his involvement in school affairs, Wayne also provided support during school trips, assisted with various tasks, and displayed unwavering kindness and dedication. The fundraising efforts aim to alleviate financial burdens on Wayne’s family during this challenging period, offering assistance with funeral expenses and practical needs for Jen and their children.

Felicity shared personal anecdotes about Wayne and Jen’s enduring relationship, emphasizing Wayne’s loving and caring nature. Described as a kind and jovial individual, Wayne was affectionately remembered as a “gentle giant” by those who knew him.
