“Royal Family Balcony Drama Unfolds at Trooping the Colour”

During the Trooping the Colour event, a group of senior working members of the Royal Family gathered on the Palace balcony to witness the RAF flypast. Notably absent were Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, who are non-working royals.

The balcony featured King Charles and Queen Camilla, along with Prince William, Princess Kate, and their children. Other attendees included Princess Anne, Prince Edward, Duchess of Edinburgh Sophie, Duchess of Gloucester, Vice-Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, and the Duke of Kent.

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie’s absence coincided with their non-working status and recent controversy over their rented apartments in royal London residences.

Additionally, Zara and Mike Tindall, James (Earl of Wessex) and Lady Louise Windsor were not present. Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor were also excluded from the gathering.

This exclusive balcony invitation was a departure from previous years when the entire Royal Family would join the Queen on the balcony. The event marked the return of Trooping the Colour in 2022 as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

The Queen’s decision to invite only working royal family members was a notable change. Despite this, one exception was made for Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, Princess Anne’s husband, who often accompanies her on royal engagements.

The Queen’s decision was carefully considered, with Buckingham Palace emphasizing the inclusion of royals fulfilling official public duties. Notably, Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor did not meet the criteria for attendance.
