The family of a 35-year-old man who tragically lost his life due to stab wounds in an east London garden has paid tribute to his remarkable character, describing him as a beacon of love, light, and joy to all those he encountered.
Mark Orabiyi was found in the garden of a residence on Rayleigh Road, Silvertown, Newnham, following a police response to a stabbing incident in nearby Pankhurst Avenue around 9 am on Friday, as confirmed by the Metropolitan Police. Despite immediate medical attention, Mr. Orabiyi succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at the hospital.
Another man in his twenties, who also suffered stab wounds, is currently receiving treatment in the hospital, with authorities stating that his injuries are not considered life-threatening or life-altering.
In a heartfelt statement, Mr. Orabiyi’s family expressed their deep sorrow, remembering him as a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend who radiated kindness, positivity, and talent. They emphasized the profound impact he had on countless lives and vowed to keep his memory alive in their hearts forever.
A murder investigation has been initiated by authorities, with three individuals taken into custody on suspicion of murder, the Met disclosed. While a 27-year-old man has been released on bail pending further inquiries, a 24-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were released without further action after being questioned.
Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke, leading the investigation, extended her sympathies to Mr. Orabiyi’s family and urged anyone with information or potential CCTV footage from the incident to come forward to assist the ongoing investigation.
