“Lost Malaysian Hiker Found Alive After Two Weeks”

A woman who was lost in the mountains of southwest Malaysia for two weeks has been found alive. Jaslinda Saludin, aged 49, survived by drinking water from pitcher plants. She went missing from a group of 14 hikers and two guides on a trek up Gunung Batu Putih near Tapah on May 23, but was only located on June 6.

Saludin shared that she went without food for the entire two weeks, relying solely on water from various sources. She continued ascending the mountain alone after experiencing leg pain, with the last sighting by her guide on May 24. Authorities were alerted to her disappearance after reports of injured hikers at Gunung Batu Putih.

Despite the search efforts, it took two weeks to locate Saludin near an Orang Asli village close to Kampung Lubuk Gaharu at Pos Mush. She was then taken to a hospital for treatment. Her husband expressed gratitude for everyone involved in the search operation, including the police, Fire and Rescue Department personnel, NGOs, and the Orang Asli community.

Search coordinators noted that Saludin was found in an area thoroughly covered by rescue teams, emphasizing the challenging terrain of the mountain. Saludin apologized for causing trouble and expressed gratitude for the efforts made to find her.
