One person has lost their life, and two others have sustained severe injuries following a crash close to a charming town in Scotland.
Authorities are calling for witnesses to provide any details they might have about the incident, which occurred around 7.35 pm on Saturday along the A709 road from Dumfries to Lockerbie, near Lochfield, Lochmaben.
The crash involved a black Vauxhall Vectra and a white Citroen Dispatch. Emergency services swiftly arrived at the location, and three individuals were rushed to the hospital for medical care.
Sadly, the Vauxhall driver, aged 50, passed away shortly after the accident. The occupants of the Citroen, a 67-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman, are currently in serious condition at the hospital.
The road remained closed for approximately eight hours to facilitate investigations and reopened around 3.30 am on Sunday.
Sergeant Wayne Carnochan from Police Scotland expressed, “Our condolences go out to the deceased’s family during this difficult time.
“We are actively investigating to determine the complete circumstances of the crash and are urging anyone who may have witnessed the event to reach out to us.
“Furthermore, individuals with relevant dash-cam footage are encouraged to contact us as it could be beneficial.”
