“Man with Hamas Ties Arrested in Greek Cruise Ship Attack Plot”

Greek authorities apprehended a man suspected of having ties to Hamas for an attempted assault on a cruise ship. The 37-year-old Palestinian national was taken into custody on the island of Crete. Investigators claim he joined Hamas and traveled abroad for training by the militant organization.

Intelligence operatives conducted searches at residences in Crete and Athens, uncovering mobile phones, a laptop, external hard drives, and bank cards. The suspect is set to face a magistrate on Sunday.

Police disclosed that the arrest is connected to the detention of four other Palestinian individuals in Cyprus, who are under investigation for “terrorism-related” activities and association with a criminal group.

In Cyprus, two men were initially detained on May 22 based on gathered intelligence assessments. Authorities discovered potential explosive manufacturing materials in residences linked to one of the suspects. Subsequently, two more men were apprehended on May 29 as part of the same inquiry.
