“Father Shields Face as Sons Face Weapons Charges”

Henry Nowak’s killer’s father shielded his face with a notepad upon his arrival at court where he faced charges related to weapons offenses. Moga Singh, aged 52, stood alongside his sons Gurpreet Digwa, 27, and Vickrum Digwa, 23, to answer to six counts of possessing offensive weapons in a private setting. The alleged weapons included a flick knife, an extendable baton, knuckledusters, a machete, swords, and kusaris.

Gurpreet Digwa faced four additional charges, including possession of an offensive weapon, an asp, in a public place, possession of a prohibited weapon, an air rifle, possession of an axe in a public place, and possession of a knife, a kirpan, in a public place.

The court appearance took place at Southampton Magistrates Court shortly after Vickrum Digwa received a life sentence with a minimum of 21 years for fatally stabbing 18-year-old Henry Nowak in the city the previous year. Prosecutor Natalie Angel requested more time to determine which charges to pursue against the three defendants, mentioning that several weapons were seized in the case.

Defense attorney Harmail Gill sought a four-week adjournment for both sides to review the charges thoroughly. He emphasized the importance of being adequately prepared and informed before the court proceedings.

Magistrates chair Jennifer Pitt postponed the hearing until July 9, granting unconditional bail to Moga Singh and Gurpreet Digwa until that date, and providing technical bail to Vickrum Digwa due to his current incarceration. She stressed the need for justice by carefully considering the charges before the next hearing.

Addressing Moga Singh and Gurpreet Digwa, Pitt specified the time for their presence at the next court session, while allowing Vickrum Digwa to participate via videolink from prison.

The weapons offenses occurred between December 4, 2025, and the day following Henry’s tragic death.
