A former NHS employee has been sentenced to nine years in prison for sexually assaulting two patients during bladder scans. Ieuan Crump, 27, committed the acts while working as a trainee health worker in August 2021. One victim testified that Crump sexually assaulted her with his finger while another health worker was present, trying to insert a catheter.
At Cardiff Crown Court, it was revealed that Crump returned alone to the room under the guise of checking for swelling and repeated the assault. Another victim described how Crump touched her genitals and opened her legs during a bladder scan at Grange Hospital in Cwmbran, Wales.
The impact on the victims was severe, with one experiencing flashbacks and frequent night terrors, leading to disrupted sleep patterns and overwhelming anxiety. The second victim also suffered from sleepless nights, pain, and uncontrollable sweating, ultimately diagnosed with PTSD and anxiety.
Crump, residing in Gilfach, Caerphilly, was convicted of nine charges, including three counts of assault by penetration. He was sentenced to nine years in prison, with lifelong sex offender notification requirements and restraining orders in place for each victim.
